'It needed to be perfectly simple but also have a distinct character of its own, and ideally contribute to renewing the Scandinavian design tradition,” says the designer Matti Klenell.
Matti Klenell designed this handmade glass for the restaurant at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. His ambition was to renew Nordic design traditions with a glass that would be characterized by simplicity but wearing a strong character. When designing this everyday glass, he thought a lot about how tactile the product is in the meeting with the user. Unda, in Latin, means water or wave. The billowing wave added to archetypal shape makes Unda comfortable in your hand and easily stackable when not in use.

Design House Stockholm has distinguished themselves as a publisher of design rather than a conventional producer, working in the same way with designers that publishing houses work with authors. Rather than selecting a designer to make a specific product, all designers are invited to bring their personal ideas. Some of these ideas are selected for development and production. They look for products that add something new to their genre. Products with personality and character.
